PRODUCT CARE - INFORMATION FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS

One of the best advice to keep the luster and beauty of fashion jewellery is to keep them clean and dry. Whether it is a necklace, bracelet or earrings, exposing fashion jewellery to any type of cream, chemical product, lotion, perfume, oil or even water is an undeniable accelerator of discolouring. Metals like brass, copper or bronze will oxidize and see their color changing (verdigris) and jewellery silver or gold platings will chip. So make sure to always remove your jewellery before applying cream, perfume or when you wash your hands. It is also very important in order to limit the greenish traces that some fashion jewellery leave on the skin.

Do not forget to give your fashion jewellery a little break from time to time. Fashion jewellery is usually not meant to be worn every day. Therefore, if you wear the same pieces of jewellery on a daily basis, you might see discoloration coming quickly. To preserve the life of your jewellery, change it as often as possible by varying the outfits. As they are pretty affordable, do not hesitate to buy for example two or three fashion necklaces in the same style and alternate them.

We have just seen above that we should not wear the same fashion jewellery daily, but it is also important to remove them at the end of the day. Never go to sleep with fashion jewellery on, it is a sure way to damage it, to make it discolour more quickly or even break it. And besides damaging your jewellery, it could also color, injure or scratch your skin. This advice also applies when you exercise, when you go to the pool etc. The green traces left on the skin (particularly by fashion rings) are due to a chemical reaction between the metal and the acidity of the skin. The sweat will naturally tend to amplify it. Finally, for any activity that does not require the presence of fashion jewellery, go without!

Another tip to make your fashion jewellery look its best as long as possible is to clean them after each use. This may seem a little laborious, but it's actually very useful to see your jewellery last! Some soap, oil or perfume may have accidentally get on your skin while you wear, earrings, necklace or bracelet. So clean them, or at least wipe them down with a soft cloth to remove any product residues and sweat that accelerates oxidation. Avoid at all costs cleaners that contain acid, alcohol, vinegar or ammonia, since they can damage your jewellery, and always make sure that your jewellery is completely clean and dry before storing Let's start with a universal piece of advice, regardless of the type of jewellery: water, shock, extreme heat are real enemies of your jewellery.

Then consider removing your accessories from time to time, including in the following situations:
- When you take a shower or bath
- When doing sport
- When it is very hot
- At the beach

We all have our tastes and habits when it comes to storing jewellery. In jewellery boxes, pouches, loose in a drawer…We do not always know, but the best way to prevent discolouring, chipping, knots in chains and breakage is to store fashion jewellery individually, for example in cotton or velvet pouches. If you have a large jewellery box or a jewellery armoire, perfect, if not, choose another system.
